"Of Paris" photography exhibition
May 6 - May 27, 2016
Artist Reception with Sean Nolan, Saturday May 6, 6-8pm
When I found out that my wife’s application to teach a study abroad semester in Paris was accepted, I was thrilled but also intimidated. For a photographer, in walking the streets of Paris, you’re competing on two fronts. There’s the greats of the past: Atget, Cartier-Bresson, Brassaï, Doisneau who loom large and haunt every shot and composition. Then there’s the tourists with ever present phones and cameras. How to get a different and new shot of the Eiffel Tower when hundreds of thousands of photos are snapped of it every day? Paris has played muse to so many. I hoped I could make it my own as well.
